How it’s making decisions or completing tasks, and when it’s being. People trust AI when they can understand it. It helps make informed decisions and ensures that AI isn’t being used in secret or harmful ways.

How will we use this principle?

• We will notify users when AI is involved or being used by providing clear notices in accessible and understandable formats.

• We will offer user-friendly explanations of AI processes that are tailored to knowledge levels and the needs of various stakeholders.

• We will maintain a registry of our AI systems to provide oversights, enable internal governance, and support public or regulatory transparency where appropriate.

• We will document and record the AI lifecycle by keeping visible records of data sources, design decisions, model training, tuning, and how AI systems are procured, adopted, and used.

• We will make documentation a standard, not a suggestion by requiring artefacts like data sheets, assessments, and decision logs as part of every use case and governance process for AI.
